GRANO SALIS: THE CONCEPTUAL ART OF MARGHERITA LEVO ROSENBERG IN CERVIA
Under the patronage of the Municipality of Cervia and the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Magazzino del Sale Torre will host Grano Salis, a solo exhibition by the international artist Margherita Levo Rosenberg, curated by Maria Grazia Melandri and organized by L’Immagine Arte. The exhibition will run from March 29 to April 15, 2025. The opening, scheduled for March 29 at 4:30 PM, will feature an introduction by Professor Matteo Galbiati in the presence of the artist, Dr. Eleonora Proni, Counselor to the President of the Region, and Councilor Mirko Boschetti.

Set in the evocative space of the historic Magazzini del Sale (Salt Warehouses), where time has layered stories and toil, Levo Rosenberg presents a series of thirty installations that engage in dialogue with this site rich in memory and material presence. Her artistic research navigates the fine line between language and matter, exploring the profound meaning of existence through the symbolic element of salt. Salt, with its multitude of meanings embedded in cultures and languages, becomes a metaphor for knowledge, effort, and memory — an essential “seasoning” that gives life both flavor and meaning. The artist’s intention is to leave each visitor with a small, imperceptible grain of salt—a fragment of awareness and reflection.

After years away from the exhibition scene in Emilia-Romagna and following the acquisition of one of her works by the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Levo Rosenberg returns to exhibit in Italy. This show coincides with her exhibitions at Palazzo Robellini in Acqui Terme, The Hague in the Netherlands, and Osaka in Japan, marking her first-ever presentation in Cervia. Among the featured works, special attention is given to the installation Pensieri d’acqua e di fango (Thoughts of Water and Mud), created using a projection screen salvaged from the devastating floods that struck Genoa in 1992. This material, imbued with history and memory, becomes both a visual and conceptual medium for reflection on the fragility of existence and the regenerative power of art. The proceeds from these works will be donated to the Traversara in Fiore Association to support the people of a small Romagna town affected by the catastrophic floods of 2024.

Born in Ponti, Piedmont, Margherita Levo Rosenberg graduated in Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry, and from the very beginning of her career, she dedicated herself to art therapy. Her research explores the relationship between art and psychology, with a particular focus on creative processes and their role in personality integration. She has participated in numerous conferences, published essays, and collaborated with specialized journals. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious museums, galleries, and public institutions worldwide, accompanied by catalogs, academic publications, and university theses that analyze her artistic journey and impact within contemporary conceptual art.
The exhibition will be open daily from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with extended hours on Thursdays and public holidays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free.
